Ho sempre amato i Lamb. Lo dichiaro subito! Tra la fine degli anni novanta e l’inizio dei duemila il duo ha realizzato una serie di dischi capisaldi di un certo tipo di musica elettronica estatica e onirica di grandissimo impatto.

I mancuniani Andy Barlow e Louise Rhodes mi hanno sempre affascinato, sia per la loro immagine minimalista ed eterea sia per le loro visioni e continue sperimentazioni sonore.
Aspettavo un loro disco. Soprattutto perché le loro ultime apparizioni discografiche (2011-2014) non mi avevano convinto più di tanto.

“The Secret of Letting Go” prosegue questo loro viaggio sperimentale nelle pieghe del contemplativo, dove i suoni rarefatti e la voce lunare di Lou Rhodes continua ad ammaliare come una sirena.

Scritto e registrato nell’arco di un anno tra lo studio della band in Inghilterra, Ibiza e l’India, offre svariate perle.
C’è spazio al dub di Moonshine (con il feat di Ciann Finn), c’è la cinematica Armageddon Waits, la trip Bulletproof, i virtuosismi vocali di Lou in The Secret of Letting Go, la sincopatica e ipnotica Deep Delirium e poi non mancano le sognanti Imperial Measures e The Silence In Between, e i cori e le orchestrazioni conclusive di One Hand Clappin

Alla fine del primo ascolto da fan, ci riprovo. Lo voglio affrontare più obiettivamente. Voglia cercare di capirlo meglio. Mi manca però continuamente qualcosa.
Un qualcosa che non riesco a trovare. Un disco incompiuto, bello, affascinante, ma incompiuto.

Lo riascolto. Il risultato non cambia.
