Esce “F*CK LOVE” il mixtape d’esordio di The Kid LAROI, giovanissimo talento australiano classe 2003!
Online il video del brano “Not Fair” con la regia di Steve Cannon (fondatore dell’organizzazione multiculturale e poliedrica A Gathering of the Tribes), che da tempo collabora con il giovane artista.
Nel suo primo grande progetto per l’etichetta Columbia Records, LAROI racconta l’amore e il dolore, coerentemente con le difficoltà che ha affrontato da bambino crescendo solo con la madre in condizioni disagiate.
“F*CK LOVE” contiene numerosi featuring importanti, tra i quali quello con l’amico e mentore Juice WRLD, il rapper statunitense protagonista delle classifiche Billboard, morto giovanissimo nel 2019. Nel video clip del brano “Go” e nel recente “Tell Me Why” si sente il feeling che i due artisti hanno avuto negli anni.
In questo mixtape, LAROI mostra il suo talento vocale e collabora con artisti come Lil Mosey e Corbin, e ha tutte le carte in regola per replicare i suoi recenti successi, come l’entrata nella Top 10 di Billboard e gli oltre 100 milioni di stream in un solo anno negli Stati Uniti.

Le recenti collaborazioni con Lil Tecca, Lil Tjay e Juice sono solo l’inizio per LAROI, pronto a prendere quella corona a cui il suo soprannome francese allude. «Mi piace tutto quello che faccio e credo sia molto figo. Prendo la musica molto seriamente e la ritengo una forma d’arte» afferma il giovane fenomeno del rap.

CHI E’ KID LAROI
LAROI è nato in Australia ed è cresciuto ascoltando le icone hip-hop e R&B americane come Tupac, Erykah Badu, The Fugees, Lil Wayne e Kanye West. Ha sempre voluto fare musica, cominciando a scrivere i primi versi da bambino e riempiendo interi quaderni di rime; quando ha cominciato a pubblicare video online è stato avvicinato da un ragazzo che lo ha ospitato gratuitamente nel suo studio per registrare i primi brani, che ha poi reso disponibili su Soundcloud.
Nel 2015 lo zio di LAROI viene assassinato e lui e sua madre sono costretti a trasferirsi in una casa popolare vivendo sulla soglia della povertà: in questo contesto matura la sua musica.
Le canzoni di LAROI sono molto audaci e sfrontate per un ragazzo così giovane. Uno dei suoi brani più famosi è “Let Her Go” (il video diretto da Cole Bennett ha superato 20 milioni di visualizzazioni) che ben rappresenta il suo modo crudo di trattare il tema dell’amore.
La sua naturale predisposizione a mescolare trap e melodia, utilizzando talvolta l’auto-tune in modo originale, ha attirato l’attenzione dell’industria musicale e lo ha reso una delle più interessanti voci del rap.
Dopo essere arrivato in finale nella competizione di Triple J Radio in Australia, si è guadagnato il rispetto del rapper di Chicago Lil Bibby, il cui supporto lo ha portato ad esibirsi sul palco accanto a Juice WRLD, che considerava un caro amico e mentore.
Nel 2018, ha registrato il suo ep di debutto “14 With A Dream”, prodotto da Miracle, e ha visto decollare il brano “Blessings”. Il freestyle su “Nonstop”, prodotto da Drake Tay Keith, ha aggiunto carburante al fuoco di LAROI.
