Video: IGGY POP – “We Are The People”
Iggy Pop ha pubblicato il nuovo video di We Are The People, brano estratto dall’acclamato album FREE disponibile su Loma Vista Recordings.
Dopo la performance della scorsa settimana alla Carnegie Hall per cui l’artista era stato accompagnato da Laurie Anderson, nel video di “We Are The People” Iggy interpreta una poesia composta da Lou Reed nel 1970 donandole una nuova affascinante dimensione visiva. Sin dai primi versi, “We are the people without land. We are the people without tradition. We are the people who do not know how to die peacefully and at ease”, l’interpretazione di Iggy si mostra incredibile.
Sabato 7 marzo, presso Perrotin a New York , Iggy pubblicherà la versione in vinile speciale “test pressing” dell’album FREE, con l’artwork e la collaborazione creativa di Maurizio Cattelan.
LA SPECIAL EDITION
Iggy Pop e Maurizio Cattelan firmeranno le copie di questa speciale edizione, limitata a 340 copie numerate in tutto il mondo, che include un altro vinile 7” con due brani inediti in esclusiva per questa collaborazione artistica: una versione a cappella di “Brahms Lullaby” ed “Epistle To Tromba”, un’emozionante ode ad un amico a quattro zampe. Contemporaneamente, da Perrotin saranno disponibili anche merch e libri che percorrono la carriera di Maurizio Cattelan, oltre a una serie di stampe storiche di Iggy Pop, per gentile concessione della Morrison Gallery.

FREE è stato pubblicato il 06 settembre su Loma Vista Recordings. Con la collaborazone di Leron Thomas (tromba, tastiera, composizione) e Noveller (chitarra, voce), l’album rappresenta qualcosa di unico nella carriera di Iggy e continua a ricevere lodi: The New York Times ha definito la title track “atmosferica ed elusiva”, mentre di “Sonali” ha scritto “un mezzo valzer frettoloso e palpitante che si muove verso una destinazione sconosciuta, stravagante ma motivato.” Riguardo all’album Rolling Stone afferma, “Spavaldo e misurato. Le chitarre ribollono. Il basso cresce di intensità e le tastiere brillano dietro di lui. E intanto Pop flette il suo baritono, esprimendosi nel modo più lucido di sempre.” Il Washington Post ha scritto, “Iggy infesta questi brani come uno spirito maestoso, il che può rendere Free una descrizione della morte, o della trascendenza, o di entrambi.”
